Who is eligible?

Families with two or more members who have a documented melanoma are invited to participate in this exciting research study.

What will the study need from me?

Participation consists of completing two study questionnaires, a skin examination, collection of information about your family structure, a small blood sample.

Questionnaire 1
We will give you a questionnaire that you can complete by yourself. This questionnaire will gather information  about: 1) locations you have lived throughout your life, 2) characteristics related to your skin type, 3) your personal history of cancer, 4) your family's history of cancer, and 5) your family's ancestry.

Questionnaire 2
We will interview you using the residency information collected in Questionnaire 1 to gather detailed information about your lifetime sun exposure.


Skin examination
A trained member of our research team will examine you skin for moles.


Family structure
With your help, we will draw your family structure to help us better understand its relationships.


Blood sample
A trained member of our research team will draw a small amount of your blood, in the same fashion as you might experience if you were having an annual checkup with your primary physician.
